Project Planning and Management

 

Project planning is a discipline for stating how to complete a project within a certain timeframe, usually with defined stages, and with designated resources.

Project planning divides the activity into:

Setting up measurable objectives

Identifying deliverables

Planning the schedule

Developing supporting plans including human resources, communication channels, and risk management.

 

Project Management is the discipline of organizing and managing resources in such a way that these resources deliver the work required to complete a project within defined scope, quality, time and cost.

A project is an endeavor undertaken to develop a unique product or service, that brings about beneficial change or added value. This property of being a temporary and a one-time undertaking contrasts with processes, or operations, which are permanent or semi-permanent ongoing functional work to create the same product or service over and over again. The management of a project requires varying technical and managerial skills
